Cpl Luther Nettles Bagnal III was a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee. CPL Bagnal served our country until February 3rd, 1971 in Binh Duong, South Vietnam. He was 22 years old and was not married. It was reported that Luther died from a booby trap. CPL Bagnal is on panel 05W, line 075 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for about one year.
Dear Chip, rest in peace my friend we had a great time at the Bob Hope Christmas Show 1970. Chip was walking point on this day 1971 when a booby trap went off killing him and wounding another. Sorry, I don't know his name. I wished you well as the medivac chopper took you both out. It was a sad day my friend I think of you often. At Christmas my Mother and I toasted you. God Bless. After attending University of North Carolina, he graduated from Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk,NC in May of 1970.

Luther entered the Army in June 1970 and was a member of 1st Platoon, Company A, 2nd Battalion of the 12th Cavalry, First Cavalry Division.
He was awarded Silver Star Medal for Gallantry in Action, The Bronze Star Medal, The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal.
