BATES, Harry McNeil, 59, Pleasant Valley, died Thursday March 17 at the Halifax Infirmary.
Born in Middle Stewiacke, he was the son of the Mrs. Ruth (Burris) Bates, Truro, and the late Charles Sr Bates.
He was a former employee of Stanfield's Ltd. Former janitor of St John's Anglican Church Truro. Former maintenance janitor of South Colchester High School and Brookfield Junior High School, and the last few years a school bus driver.
He is survived by his wife, Fern Collins; one daughter, Kelly ( Mrs. Ken Chin) of Dartmouth; four sons, Glendon of Pleasant Valley; Curtis of Truro; Karl and Robert both at home; six brothers, Richard and Walter, both of Middle Stewiacke; Charles Jr. of Lower Truro; John, New Minas; Bruce, Penticton, B.C.; Gerald, Onslow Mountain; three sisters, Mrs. Shirley Hewey, Winnipeg; Marie (Mrs. Walter Hewey), Anola, Man.; Mrs. Madeline Parker, Dartmouth; and one grandson.
He was predeceased by one sister, Donna.
The body is in Mattatall's Funeral Home, Truro from where visiting hours are 7-9pm today. Funeral will be at Mattatall's Funeral Home at 2 pm, Saturday, Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Spring Burial will be in Green Oaks Cemetery.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Knox United Church, Brookfield.
