Pearl Carrie Herschberger was born on July 2, 1915 at her parents home in Ash Lake Township, Lincoln County, to George and Anna Louise (Larson) Herschberger. She was raised on her parents' farm, and attended rural school district 75 in Ash Lake Township. Pearl joined St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church on August 14, 1936.

She and Lawrence W. Dorenkamper were married on September 7, 1937 at St. Peter and Paul. They farmed for 44 years in Shaokatan Township, Lincoln County, and in 1981, moved to Ivanhoe. Lawrence passed away on December 20, 1989.

Pearl was an active member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and the Altar and Rosary Society. In her younger years, she enjoyed horses. Her enjoyments in life were embroidery work, and crocheting, playing the piano and organ, her pets, bird watching, and gardening. She always enjoyed having children around her, and her children and grandchildren will remember her for her loving strength.

Pearl is survived by her children: Karen (Mrs. David Lingen of Holland, MN; Carolyn Rybinski and her husband Bernard of Ivanhoe; Larry Dorenkamper and his wife Harriet of Ivanhoe; Rollyn Dorenkamper and his wife Darleen of Minneota; Keith Dorenkamper and his wife Monica of West Burlington, IA: and Kaleen Rybinski and her husband Richard of Hendricks. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; one sister, Ethel (Mrs. Ingvald) Larson of Hendricks and one brother, Ernest Herschberger of Ivanhoe.

She was preceded in death by her parents;her husband Lawrence; three sisters: Lillie, Elsie, and Inez; and four brothers: Harold in infancy, Walter, George, Jr., and Alvin; and a sister-in-law, David G. Lingen.
