EMPORIA --- Vera L. Barrett, 79, Emporia, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. Barrett and her husband owned and operated Barrett Concrete, where she was employed as the bookkeeper.
She was born April 14, 1922, in Hamilton, the daughter of Aduf and Beulah Probasco South.
Mrs. Barrett was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Emporia.
She married Roy R. Barrett on Sept. 2, 1940, in Emporia. He survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Lee Barrett, Topeka, Mike R. Barrett, Emporia, and Jeff Barrett, San Antonio, Texas; a daughter, Anita Brown, Evansville, Ind.; a brother, Dale Cody, Cabool, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Barrett was preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha Jean Barrett.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Emporia. Cremation will follow the services. Inurnment at Maplewood Cemetery will be private. Mrs. Barrett will lie in state at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia until 9 a.m. Thursday, where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Research Association and sent in care of the funeral home.
