The wife of William Boykin Barber. James was s CSA veteran and Martha applied for a pension off his name. He died at Palmetto, Fla. 6 of their children are buried at the Patton - Barber cemetery 6 miles from Shubuta in the Hepzibah area.

In the early morning hours of 26 Mar, Mrs. Martha Jane BARBER, 86, quietly slipped away to that home eternal not made with hands. Born in this community 15 Apr 1849.
Services at the home, 10 AM, Wednesday morning, conducted by Rev. C. H. Gunn, Methodist Pastor. Interment in Shubuta Cemetery.
Survivors - one brother, H. C. McLEOD, Pachuta; two daughters, Mrs. J. P. PATTON, Shubuta; Mrs. C. B. WEEKS, Lakeland, FL; three sons, I. W. and T. J. BARBER, Shubuta; E. L. BARBER, Gulfport; 19 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.
