AUSTIN -- The funeral for Clara Norma Braaten will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kristin K. Wee officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Austin.
Mrs. Braaten, 83, of Austin, died Thursday (Aug. 26, 1999) at St. Mark's Lutheran Home.
Clara Norma Tiegen was born Aug. 12, 1916, in Ambrose, N.D. She graduated from high school in Crosby, N.D. In 1935 she married Tilman Braaten in Osage, Iowa; he died in 1985. Mrs. Braaten resided in the rural Austin area until 1959, when she moved into Austin. For 18 1/2 years she was employed at St. Mark's Lutheran Home as a nursing assistant. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the OCAW Union, and enjoyed crocheting and playing cards and board games.
Survivors include four sons, Tom, Mike and Larry, all of Austin, and Ronald of Chahalies, Wash.; four daughters, Beverly Pitcher and Carole (Mrs. Bob) Dunfee, both of Austin, Marlys (Mrs. Leroy) Junge of Rochester, and Linda (Mrs. Dick) Skjeie of Kasson; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Edna (Mrs. George) Braaten of Austin. Two sisters, two brothers, and two grandchildren preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin, and at the church one hour before the service on Monday.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mark's Lutheran Home.
