Mrs Christina Margaretha Stuck Hansen
Birth: Mar. 26, 1837
Christiansholm
Rendsburg-Eckernförder Landkreis
Schleswig-Holstein, Germany
Death: Jan. 28, 1908
Anchor
McLean County
Illinois, USA

Christina was the third of seven known children born to Detlef (III) and Anna Catherina "Trina" (Stange) Stuck, and arrived in their fourth year of marriage. She was baptized into the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hohn, Schleswig-Holstein on 16 April 1837.

Details on Christina's early life in Germany are sparse. It is known that her father Detlef was a baker. She was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hohn in 1852 at the age of 15.

The cabinetmaker Adolph Friendrich Niesche III proposed marriage to Christina in Tellingstedt on 13 October 1865. She accepted his proposal and their wedding took place the following month at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tellingstedt on 10 November 1865.

Adolph and Christina were blessed with two known children, both of whom survived into adulthood. They were: (1) Wilhelmina Katharina "Minnie" Niesche, born on 15 March 1866 and (2) Adolph Friedrich Niesche IV, born on 24 May 1867.

Adolph died in Tellingstedt on 26 October 1870, just three short years after the birth of his son. The cause of death was blood poisoning from a leg injury sustained while either jumping or falling from a stone wall. He was buried in Tellingstedt on 31 October 1870.

When the family made the decision to emigrate, Christina and her two small children departed on on 01 November 1872 from Hamburg aboard the SS Hansa, a Hamburg-America Line steamship. The three arrived in New York City on 18 November 1872.

They then traveled to the German Lutheran community of Anchor, Illinois, where they met with relatives and would later be joined by her late husband's parents, Adolph Friedrich (Jr.) and Catharina Wilhelmina (Broders) Niesche in 1879.

Christina married a gentleman from Offenbüttel, Schleswig-Holstein named Hans Jacob Hansen in Anchor on 08 March 1873. The newlyweds settled as farmers and had three known children, all of whom survived into adulthood: (1) Anna Margaretha Caroline "Maggie" Hansen, born on 18 August 1875 (2) Maria Magdalene Elsabea "Mary" Hansen, born on 27 June 1877 and (3) Johann Christian Friedrich "John" Hansen, born on 14 May 1884.

Hans and Christina raised their children on a farm seven miles southwest of Anchor. They were active in St. John's Lutheran Church and the broader community. Christina was known for her character and kind nature.

Christina died at their farmhouse from edema on 28 January 1908. Her death came so suddenly that it occurred before her children had an opportunity to see her. She was buried in the St. John's Lutheran Church cemetery on 30 January 1908. Her husband Hans was too feeble to attend the service and passed away himself four years later.
