Norman Edwin Spurling, 73, of Harleyville, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 7, 2011, at Hospice of Charleston.

A Memorial Service will be held 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 14, 2011, at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Reverends Bob Lee and Larry Sprague officiating.

Norman was born on February 26, 1938, in Boston, Massachusetts, a son of Norman V. and Rita Carpenter Spurling.

He was a steel fabricator, and was an avid golfer where he was a member of the Holly Hill Golf Course. He also enjoyed fishing.

He was predeceased by a son, Norman E. Spurling, Jr.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Jean Rudd Mizell; a son, Robert L. (Nancy) Mizell, Harleyville;son, John L. (Judy) Mizell. Grandchildren, Robert and Dustin Spurling, Bladenboro, NC, Amanda Mizell, North Myrtle Beach, Crystal (Ricky) Owens, Cross, and Travis Mizell, Harleyville; a step-grandson, Robbie Mizell, Jr., Walterboro; sisters-in-law, Mellie M. Infinger, Arlene and Douglas Infinger, both of Harleyville; brother-in-law, Robbie and Dot Rudd, Dorchester; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
