"Tonica News Obituary" May 17, 1895
"Miss Alice R. Malhorn was born in Safe Harbor, Lancaster county, Penn., Oct. 1, 1856; came with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Wm. R. Malhorn to Illinois in 1862 and settled at Tonica, where Dec. 23, 1875 she was married to F.A. Brooker; to them were born 8 children--3 boys and 5 girls-- who are deprived of a kind and affectionate mother. She united with the Arispie M.E. church 6 years ago, and has lived a consistent christian life during this time and has now gone to reap her reward.
Such was the notice read by the preacher at the funeral last Sunday afternoon. The remains were brought here from their home near Tiskilwa, arriving about 3 o'clock. Rev. G.L. Taylor conducted funeral services at the house of W.R. Malhorn, assisted by Rev. A.R. Newton. There was a large attendance of relatives and neighbors gathered to show their esteem for the dead and sympathy for the bereaved. Six of the eight motherless children were present with the disconsolate father. After all the comforting words of pastor and friends had been spoken, the body of the deceased was consigned to the village cemetery."

Bureau County Republican Newspaper; May 23, 1895 in the column for news from Arispie, there was this obituary: "On May 10th Mrs. Frank Brooker passed away after a protracted illness of nearly one year. The funeral was held at the home on Sabbath morning, at 8 o'clock a.m. Rev. Kaufman of Tiskilwa officiating, after which undertaker May took the remains to Tonica, Ill. for burial, where she was laid beside a sister and brother who preceded her. Mr. and Mrs. Malhorn, of Tonica, were in attendance here at the funeral, and accompanied the family who followed the remains to Tonica, where another funeral sermon was preached at her old home."
