Henry Hunter Cook was born Feb. 20, 1916 in Fitzgerald, Georgia, the son of Charles and Esther Hunter Cook.
Henry enlisted on 26 June 1940 and served in the Army Signal Corp in the Asiatic Theatre during WW II. He was imprisoned by the Japanese on 7 May 1942 after all American Forces in the Philippines were surrendered unconditionally to the Japanese. He was held at Hoten POW Camp, Mukden, Manchuria until September 1945.
He married Irene Starr on Oct. 18, 1947 in Winchester, Virginia. Together they went to Belgrade Yugoslavia where Henry served at the American Embassy. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force on 20 July 1952.
After a lengthy illness, Henry died May 28, 1993 at his home in Bexar County, Texas, just south of San Antonio.
