From The Davenport Democrat, June 26, 1905:
SISTER'S DEATH FOLLOWS BROTHER
Occurred Within a Week Apart and from the Same Malady.
Anna Louisa Adolphson died at 1:30 o'clock this morning at 428 Spring Street.
Two graves within the period of a week have been ordered dug in beautiful Oakdale cemetery on the same lot. In one lies the remains of John H. Adolphson and in the other one Tuesday afternoon will be placed the body of the former's sister, Anna Louisa Adolphson, whose death occurred at 1 o'clock this morning at 428 Spring Street.
The case is a sad one indeed. Four several years both the brother and sister have been sufferers from the ravages of consumption. They lived together and cared for each other. At time the sister would be confined to her bed and during that period was sure to receive the kind attention and watchful ministrations of her brother. Then when the brother took sick and was obliged to give up his position as a painter at Mason's Carriage works, his sister ever kept her watchful eye over him until death relieved his sufferings. He was the person who expired a week ago just as the ambulance had reached the place where he and his sister resided, to convey him to the hospital.
Now both brother and sister have passed to the great beyond. Their souls took flight within a week of each other and the bodies will lie side by side in Oakdale.
The sister was 26 years of age and the brother 21. The funeral will be held at 2o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the place of death, 428 Spring street, with interment at Oakdale.
