Florence Marie Anderson-Alexander was born on September 20, 1949 to Jake Anderson and Florence James in Port Arthur, Texas. Although she was the only child from this union, she was already a little sister to a half brother named Leonard Anderson who now resides in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

From birth, Florence was a very special child and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age at White Rose Church of God in Christ. She started very early on with a love and appreciation for outreach and especially music. Not only did she sing in her church and school choirs, but all around Port Arthur and surrounding cities.

In 1968, Florence was an honor student and graduated from Abraham Lincoln Senior High School, where she also met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Lloyd Alexander, III. In 1972, Florence and Lloyd were married and on February 3, 2011, they celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary.

Even as a young adult, Florence was very involved in her community, as she was appointed to numerous city and county boards including the Jefferson County Child Welfare Board. She never met a stranger and made friends easily everywhere she went. Vice President of Goodwill Industries in Chesapeake Bay, MA, Douglas Hiobb and other respected businesspersons and officials counted her as a dear friend and avid community leader.

In her personal life, she never met an obstacle she could not overcome or find the grace to withstand. Family illnesses, financial setbacks, or any other life cuicumstance could not stop Florence Marie Alexander from being the best wife, mother, friend, mentor, or any other position that was set before her. She was many things to many people and always encouraged everyone she met to be the best no matter what they were going through. Not only would she encourage you with her words, but she never failed to back it up with her deeds and would always be found giving, even out of her own needs.

Florence passionately pursued and finished her Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from American InterContinental University (AIU) in 2010 with a 3.2 G.P.A. at the ripe age of 60 years young. Even though she had an insatiable love for writing, of her most esteemed accomplishments was being a founding member of her daughter's foundation, Born 2 Lead Network, which is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization for youth and young adults that encourages them to "be the difference that makes a difference in the world which we live" as she would say. Lastly, although she was advised not to have children because of fear of repeating the past of her mother's death during childbirth, Florence did only what Florence could do best, and that's be herself. A year later, on May 8, 1973, she and her husband bore their first child, Lloyd Alexander, IV. A few years later they had two daughters, Shannon Michelle Alexander on October 13, 1977 and Robinne DeShunder Alexander on February 4, 1980. They also have 8 beautiful grandchildren and numberous adopted children.
