Ruby Estelle Phelps Collins, age 81, of Bub's Lane, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at Louise Obici Hospital, Suffolk, She was a native of Washington County, N.C., and retired in 1982 as a laundry supervisor with Smithfield Packing Company with 25 years of service. Her husband, Wade Hampton Collins, and a son, Dural R. Collins, preceded Mrs. Collins in death. Survivors include son, Wade M. Collins of Smithfield; two sisters, Ruth P. Davenport of Creswell, N.C., and Leola P. Ambrose of Columbia, N.C.; four grandsons, Dural R. II, Christopher M., Jeffrey W. and Jamison N. Collins; five great-grandsons, Cory, Joey, Clay, Shane and Dustin. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, with the Rev. Jarvis Hearn officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Memorial Park, Smithfield. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight at Colonial Funeral Home. Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, is handling arrangements.
