Victor Neal was born in Portland Oregon on Christmas Eve, 1880. His parents were Thomas and Fannie Neal and he was one of 8 children. His brothers were George and Arthur (my grandfather) and his sisters were Esther Kaye, Harriet Bates, Victoria Reed, Lilly Bergstrand and baby Fanny.

Victor was a fireman for Portland Fire Department (Engine 16). He was a hoseman at a time when their crews still worked from a horse drawn engine. He retired as a Captain.

After that, when he was 61 years old he worked for Albina Engine & Machine Works (Ship Builders). He helped build Sub Chasers, Landing Craft and Tankers for the US Navy during World War II.

He was never married.

He was cremated & buried in the Portland Memorial Mausoleum.
