Baron V. Balas, 36, of 14 Mechanic, Edgerton, died Sunday in Edgerton Hospital, Rock County. Rock County Coroner, Richard Messner ruled the death was due to a self inflicted gun shot wound.
He was born Feb 16, 1947, in Janesville. A Navy veteran, Balas served on the aircraft carrier Roosevelt during the Vietnam War. He was employed the last 12 years by GMAD. He was a member of The Wisconsin National Guard Janesville Unit, UAW Local No. 95, Moose Lodge No. 197 and VFW.
Surviving are two daughters, Tina and Tonya; his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Balas; two brothers, Jerry and Robert, all of Janesville, and his stepfather Ellsworth Voss of Winter Haven, Fla.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Overton Funeral Home, Janesville. Burial with Military rites, will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
