Dennis A. Boxx, age 74 of Ferndale, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2007, in the presence of his family after a long, hard battle with cancer. Dennis was born September 16, 1933, in Jefferson City, Missouri to Walter and Beulah (Wilson) Boxx. The family moved to Whatcom County in 1946. They made the journey in a truck with Dennis and his two brothers riding in the back. He grew up on a berry farm and graduated from Meridian High School in 1951. After graduation he enlisted in the army and spent most of his tour of duty in Germany. After returning home, he spent most of his early years in construction. He later worked at Mt. Baker Plywood and Lynden Door. After retirement, he helped on the family farm. His hobbies included building wooden toy trucks and wagons. He also spent countless hours on his family's genealogy with the aid of his computer. He traced his ancestors back to the 1600's. His children and grandchildren were a very important part of his life. Dennis is survived by two sons, Steve and Richard of Stamping Ground, KY, daughter Cheryl of Bellingham, brothers William of Ferndale and Jack of Laurel, along with six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Denise. Dennis was loved by many and will be missed by all. A special thanks to Bellingham Hospice and especially Carren. Memorials in Dennis's name may be made to Whatcom County Hospice Foundation, 800 Chestnut St., Bellingham WA 98225.
