Eugenia Harman Box, 90, of Jackson Mississippi died Sunday, October 12, 1997, at University Medical Center in Jackson. Funeral services were scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 1997 at Briarwood United Methodist Church in Jackson. Graveside services were scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday in Odd Fellow Cemetery in Quitman Mississippi. Mrs. Box previously lived in Pace, Mississippi, where her husband, the late Joseph Ollie Box, served as superintendent of the school system for over 30 years. She later moved to Jackson, where she lived for the past 30 years. She was a member of the Briarwood United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and sang solo's in the church choir, until the age of 85. "Mimi", as she was known to her family and friends, was a friend and inspiration to all who knew her. Her faith sustained her and she never dwelt on her own problems and always encouraged everyone who knew her. She was a wonderful cook, mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She celebrated her 90th birthday in July with a family party in the home of her daughter-in-law, and all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry and Annie Johnston Harman Cadenhead, her husband Joseph Ollie Box and a son Joseph Harman Box of Jackson. Mrs. Box is survived by a son and his wife, a daughter-in-law, six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Box was a native of Clarke County and grew up in Enterprise, Mississippi. She was the niece of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johnston and Mr. and Mrs. D. P. Johnston of Enterprise. Pallbearers were her grandsons.
