Pearl Anna Messer

GALENA -- Pearl Anna Messer, 90, of Galena, died at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at her home.

She was born at Galena, to Benjamin and Laurinda Kreigbaum Webb.

On Dec. 26, 1929, she married Charlie F. Messer at Joplin, Mo.

They moved to Picher, Okla., then returned to Galena in 1942.

Mrs. Messer was a homemaker and for 12 years worked as a cook for the Galena school system.

She member of Gospel Assembly Church of Kansas City, Mo.

Survivors include four daughters, Doris Cantrell of Joplin, Joan Rowan of Galena, Marilyn Shirley of Monett, Mo., and Judi Cross of Eldorado, Ill.; one son, Charlie Messer of Sanborn, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on May 29, 1997, and a daughter, Virginia Rowan, on Oct. 13, 1999.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Derfelt Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Gene Driver officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, which is handling all arrangements.
