William Roger Campbell, 50, a resident of Sullivans Island, S.C., died Jan. 8, 2001, at the home of his brother, Ralph Campbell, in Shoals Junction, S.C. He is survived by his daughter, Kelsey Campbell of Sullivans Island, his mother, Linda Robinson Sanders of Greenwood. He was the son of the late Wilton L. Campbell. He is also survived by two brothers, Jimmy Campbell of Saluda, S.C. and Ralph Campbell of Shoals Junction. Maternal grandparents were Cal and Julia Robinson of Shoals Junction. Roger was a 1972 graduate of The Citadel, Charleston, S.C. where he was a member of Charlie Company. He made his home on Sullivans Island where he was a member of Sunrise Presbyterian Church. During his life in Charleston, he was founder and CEO of Southeastern Container Corporation and at his death served as president of Container Land Associates, LP, and SOE Incorporated. He was an active member of various organizations including The Citadel's Association of Citadel Men (now known as The Citadel Alumni Association), Maritime Association, Propeller Club and Ducks Unlimited. Roger acquired his pilot's license in 1978 and was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association. Pallbearers included Sam Ackerson, Dr. Gene Willard, Charles Milford, Ken McAlister, Walter Cain, W. W. Boles, Randy Allen, Don Jackson, Donnie Culbertson, Larry Owens, Stanley Hall, Jack Steen, Walt Lowe, Anthony Rhodes, Mark Gillam, Tommy Rhodes, Russ Perkins, Mike Ashley, Henry Sanders, Ken Killough, Dr. William H. Snyder, III, and Ellis Woods. Visitation was held Tues., Jan. 9, from 7-9 p.m. at Parker White Funeral Home in Ware Shoals. Services were held Wed., Jan. 10, 3 p.m. at Greenville Presbyterian Church where he was a former member for many years. The family received friends at the home of his mother, Linda Sanders, 109 Kaye Drive in Greenwood. Dr. George Wilson presided over the services and burial was in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials be sent in the name of William Roger Campbell to the Medical University of S.C., GI Hepatology, 96 Jonathan Lucas St., Suite 916, P.O. Box 250623, Charleston, SC 29425.
