Reinhold is the son of August William Breitung and Amelia Wilhelmina Leonhardt.The family first settled in the Mequon area of Washington Co.,WI. then moved to the Appleton area. They adventually transfered the graves of the family buried there to Riverside Cemetery in Appleton.

He was united in marriage to Christaina Umbehaun on 6 Nov 1854 in Appleton.He was a butcher by profession.

They are parents of six children:
