Clarence F. "Pop" Brown, 72, of Bloomington, resident of Victoria County since 1948, died at 9:45 a.m. Monday in a local hospital following a long illness. Mr. Brown was born March 26, 1903 in Oklahoma, and resided in Avant, Okla., before moving to Bloomington. He was a retired employe of Sunray Oil Co., and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Bloomington, as well as a member of The church's Holy Name Society. He was the father of the late Marine Master Sgt. Clarence "Charlie" Brown, former Marine Corps recruiter in Victoria who was killed in action in Vietnam in February 1967. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Anna M. Brown of Bloomington; two daughters, Mrs. Juanita Scott of Bloomington and Mrs. Bettie Varner of Grandfalls Tex.; five grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild.
