The reamins of a Limestone Marker and Native Stone are all that are left of this grave. I've been going to this church since 1971 and when Zora Youree and my mom did the 1974 census the stone was standing then and very difficult to read. Zora didn't know who was buried here. This is 2 - 3 plots south of William Henry.
In 1974 the _arison was clear. The first letter could be an "F" or "G". Some of the Elders seem to think the name is Farison, but aren't sure. We are going with Farison.
_arison was on top, then Jackson in the middle, then Son of:
all the rest of letters as well as the dates were gone.
Not sure if Jackson is the first, middle or last name.
Most children stones had the childs name first, then child of (parents name).
In 1981 _arison is the only thing readable. This census was taken by Georgianna Hulburt, Mamie Cross, & Charlotte Holder. This is where I got my information to fill in the blanks and make sure I had the correct grave. Their list starts on the East (right) side of the cemetery and procedes in order by stone to the left. As you get toward the back pages it isn't "in order". In the far left back the stones are more scattered and difficult to line up. This census is stored in the Sherman Library, Genealogy Section, Sherman, Grayson County, Texas.
In 2003 when Pat Templeton and my mom did the cemetery map the stone was rubble then.
In 2012 I've been unable to locate the stone. My mother June Jaynes remembers this stone. It was an upright stone on the right side of the Church, but can't remember exactly where it was located. The only stone that I find that even looks like it could be this stone is in worse than poor shape. It is no longer standing and has been reduced to rubble.
I need to remember when researching (this is a CHILD). I have gotten to wrapped up looking at the adults. And spending way too much time chasing other "rabbits."
1974 - Stone was very hard to read. Most of all letters were gone.
1981 - Census by Georgianna Hulburt, Mamie Cross, & Charlotte Holder
2012 - using 1974, 1981 records and my mom's memory we know that these are the remains of his stone.
Note: Made of limestone; 2012 - stone has been rubble for years
