Mary "Polly" May Boles Gault

Mrs. Mary Gault, aged 91 years, died at her home in this city at 9 o'clock yesterday morning, death being due to the infirmities of old age. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. S. S. Key, were held at 10 o'clock this morning and the remains interred in Brearley Cemetery. Mrs. Gault was perhaps the oldest citizen of Yell County, and had resided in Dardanelle for nearly half a century. She was a noble Christian woman and was universally loved and respected. She is survived by four sons, W. M., A. H., J, J. and Seth Boles; three daughters, Mrs. Mary I. Fowler, Mrs. Viola Johnson and Mrs. Laura Harrington.

Following John's passing, Mary married Judge Joseph Gault of Dardanelle, Yell County, Arkansas, on Dec 8, 1870.

Judge Gault, one of the pioneer citizens of Yell County, as well as one of the leading merchants of Dardanelle, was born in South Carolina to William and Winnie (Cooper) Gault, of that State, in 1812, and when old enough was placed in the common schools and received what schooling these afforded, and when twenty years old started out in the world for himself.

Mary's parents are Thomas May & his first wife, Rebecca Eliza (Adams) May, who married abt 1815 in Dickson County, Tennessee.

Location of final resting place of Mary's mother, Rebecca, is unknown.
