Birth: May 1, 1848, Germany
Death: Apr. 18, 1923
Scott County
Iowa, USA

The Davenport Democrat and Leader, Davenport, Iowa, Thursday, April 19, 1923

Conrad Dietz, one of the best known residents of the Walcott community and a pioneer of that vicinity, died at his home at Walcott at 11 o'clock Wednesday night. Mr. Dietz suffered a stroke at 8 o'clock and gradually grew worse until the end.

A resident of Walcott since a young boy, Mr. Dietz had identified himself with the life of the community for over 60 years. He was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Johannes Dietz, early pioneers and was born in Hessen Dornstedt (sic), Germany, May 1, 1848. He came to America with his parents when a lad of four years, the family settling in Pennsylvania where they lived for only a short time. They came to Scott county soon after where Mr. Dietz grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Miss Margretha Puck in 1870. The couple farmed the old Dietz homestead one and a half miles north of Walcott until nine years ago when they retired and moved to Walcott.

Mr. Dietz was a member of Walcott Lodge No. 312, K. of P. He was well loved in the community and made many friends by his happy disposition.

He leaves to survive, his wife, six daughters, Mrs. Charles Dahms of Davenport, Mrs. William Martens of Stockton, Mrs. Albert Lavernz of Stockton, Mrs. Henry Geertz of Stockton, Mrs. Henry Blocker of Walcott, and Mrs. Lester Duncan of Walcott; nine sons, Herman, of Montpelier, William of Rock Rapids, Gustave of Norfolk, Neb., Benjamin, Adolph and Arthur of Walcott, Emil of Spencer, Phillip of Stockton and Albert of Davenport. One sister, Mrs. Marie Feuerbach of Walcott, a brother, John Dietz of Walcott, 49 grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home in Walcott with interment in the Walcott cemetery.
