Mr. Bridgers was a retired State of North Carolina highway maintenance equipment worker and supervisor.
He was born Aug. 22, 1920, the youngest child of the late A.E. and Martha Barnes Bridgers. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Gaddis, Mary, Eunice, Irvin, Hermis, Bennie, Wilson, Grady, Gladys, Valera and Ellie.
He loved life and his fellow man and treated others as he wanted them to treat him. He was a loving husband and father.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margaret Vinson Bridgers; his son, David C. Bridgers Jr. and his wife, Lou, of Jackson; two granddaughters, Carmen Bridgers Johnson and her husband, Clifton, of Jackson and Rebecca Paige Bridgers of Wilmington; two great-granddaughters, Carson Drew Johnson and Catherine Jaymes Johnson of Jackson; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 20, at the Town of Conway Cemetery, with the Rev. Duncan Jones officiating.
