Emma and Peter Buchan were married on Christmas Eve December 1876. R.E. Mills MG performed the ceremony in Pulaski GA.
They had at least 8 children:
Joseph Arthur Buchan 1878 – 1950
Ann E. Buchan 1880 –
Thomas Jefferson Buchan 1886 – 1974
Lee Ola Buchan 1889 – 1957
Lela Buchan 1893 –
David Buchan 1894 – 1911
Clarence Cornelius Buchan 1896 – 1977
Daniel Otis Buchan 1898 – 1963
Family lore is that Emma and Peter had come to Florida from Georgia to work on a farm. While in Florida, Emma died. The family could not afford to transport the body back to Georgia. The owner of the farm (Mather-Smith) they were working for paid for the funeral in exchange for a music concert by the Buchan Quartet (Thomas, Daniel, Clarence, Emma Bernice).
The writing on the stone is homemade - I wonder if Peter, her husband, or Thomas her son, wrote her name on the stone.
Emily Jane was 68 years old when she passed. Emily died from uremia.
