Dallas Charles Barrett, 84, of Kingsport, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Holston Valley Medical Center, after a long battle with cancer with his family at his side. His pain and suffering are over and he is home with Jesus and many loved ones.

He was born on July 20th, 1926 in Hawkins County, TN. He was saved at a young age and was well known for his hard work. Dallas retired from Concrete Products, Kingsport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Ida Anderson Barrett; his wife, Mary Kate Barrett; son, Kenny Barrett and three brothers, Oscar, Hugie and Andy Barrett.

Survivors include his two daughters, Rosa Lee Williams & husband, Burl of Church Hill, Janie Gibson & husband, Don of Kingsport, who he had made his home with for 15 years; brother, Junior Barrett and wife, Sue of Johnson City; sister, Gladys Overbay of Kingsport; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; special friends, Phillip and Betty Wills and a host of friends. He loved to spend time with Phillip, farming and going to auctions.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm to 2 pm on Monday, June 20, 2011 at Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, VA or you may also call anytime at the home of Jane Gibson. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm in the chapel with Rev. Raymond Hammonds, officiating. A eulogy will be offered by Junior Barrett.

Burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Pallbearers will be his family and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Phillip Wills, Junior Barrett, Don Gibson and Burl Williams.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice, Jean, Patti and Misty, W-3, Dr. Shipstone, Dr Ehrenfried and Dr. Reed. Thank you all for you prayers and thoughts during this time, especially, Weber City Church of God.
