The Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth mourn the loss of Sister Regina Marie Allgaier, 95, who died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 in Ross Hall at the Mother House, Leavenworth, Kan.
Catherine Gertrude Allgaier was born on March 26, 1918 in Kansas City, Mo., youngest of three children of Michael and Catherine Rigney Allgaier. She graduated from St. Raymond School and St. Francis Academy, Joliet, Ill. She entered the religious community of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth on September 1, 1936 and, as Sister Regina Marie, made her profession of vows on June 28, 1938.
Sister Regina Marie taught for 54 years in primary schools throughout the West and Midwest. She received a BS in Education from Saint Mary College, Leavenworth, Kan. and an MS in Special Education from Eastern Montana College of Education, Billings, Mont. In 1992 she was assigned to be in charge of the Activity Room at the Mother House until her retirement in 2003.
In the community, Sister Regina Marie was preceded in death by her cousins, Sisters Ann Elizabeth Shea and Maureen Writt. Survivors include nieces, nephews, cousins, and her SCL Community.
