DR. NED A. ARGANBRIGHT DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Dr. Ned A. Arganbright, engaged in the practice of dentistry in Freeport since 1915, died in a local hospital early today after an extended illness. He lived at 103 Stephenson Court.
A veteran of World War I, he served as a first lieutenant in the dental corps at Camp Shelby, Miss.
during his career in dentistry he served as president of the Illinois State Dental Society, president of the Northwest District Dental Society and the Northern Illinois Dental Society.
During his term as president of the state organization he was instrumental in having the state adopt the Dental Hygienist bill permitting dental hygienists to take a state board examination and become licensed to practice in Illinois.
PROMOTED DENTAL LEGISLATION
He was also active in the promotion of other legislation which aided dentistry's development in Illinois.
He was a life member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society and Chicago Denture Research group. He was also a member of the American Dental Society, the American Equilabration Society and an associate member of Chicago Dental Society. He was a member of Embury Methodist Church.
Dr. Arganbright was senior past commander of the American Legion and a member of the 40&8, Elks, Rotary, Germania and the Masonic fraternity at What Cheer, Iowa. During his residence in Freeport he had been active in civic affairs for many years.
NATIVE OF IOWA
He was born in Hedrick, Iowa, Sept. 13, 1893. He graduated from What Cheer high school, attended the University of Iowa and garduated in dentistry from Northwestern University.
His marriage to Mildred Holmes took place Nov. 16, 1918, at Hattiesburg, Miss. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Robert C. Krogull and Mrs. J. M. Harsough, both of Freeport; one son, Ned H., Rockford; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Ray Soseman, Hesperia, California.
A memorial fund will be established for the benefit of Freeport Memorial Hospital and may be sent to the hospital.
Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Dr. Paul Bloomquist, pastor of Freeport Methodist Church will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
