DEAN FINIS ALLEN, 69, of Duncan, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 1, 2007, at his home, after a battle with cancer.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Terry Bradley officiating, assisted by the Rev. Lawrence Gresham. Interment will be in Marlow City Cemetery.
He was born July 17, 1937, in Ringling, to Finis and Willie Mae Whittington Allen. Dean attended school at Burrows and then at Doyle.
He married Areitta Shipman in February 1957, and to this marriage one daughter, Sharon Rene', was born. As a young man, Dean served his country in the Army in Germany, missing the birth of his first child. While there, Dean produced several records that included singing and his personal thoughts to share with his family back home. He also visited France while overseas.
In March 1967, Dean married Sylvia Wilson, and with this marriage, he gained a stepdaughter, Donna Lynne.
He then married Deanna Gregston in June 1993, and gained a stepson, Blake Arrington. Dean and Deanna resided in the Duncan area until his passing.
He was a member of Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Duncan.
Some of Dean's employment included owning a service station in Rush Springs, the City of Lawton, truck driver in the oil field, security guard, lake camp host and bus driver for the Bray-Doyle and Duncan Public Schools. He was employed by Duncan schools until the time of his illness. Dean resided most of his life in the south-central Oklahoma area.
He enjoyed camping and cookouts with friends and family. Family time was very important to him.
Survivors include his wife, Deanna of Duncan; a daughter, Rene' Holmes and husband Doug of Marlow; a stepdaughter, Donna Hendricks and husband Keith of Velma; a stepson, Blake Arrington and wife Carmen of Morris; eight grandchildren, Jason Holmes and wife Katie of Choctaw, Cody Holmes and wife Ashley of Marlow, Denton Holmes of Marlow, Larry Hendricks, Jennifer Hendricks and Christopher Hendricks, all of Velma, and Heather Arrington and Tyler Arrington, both of Morris; four great-grandchildren, McKenzie Holmes, Braiden Holmes, Celestial Hendricks and Cody Hendricks; four brothers, Bill Allen and wife Marie of Duncan, Truitt Allen and wife Billie of Marlow, Delous Allen and wife Debbie of Lawton, and Gary Allen and wife Shirley of Duncan; and a host of nieces and nephews that will all miss him very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bearers will be Bill Chambless, Harry Cooper, Lynn Edwards, Gary Ferguson, Bob Hicks and Danny Johnson.
