Mary-Lu Addie, 78, of Goldendale, passed away on May 8, 2011 at the Oregon Veteran's Home with her daughters (Terri and Susie) by her side.
Mary-Lu was born in Boulder, Wyoming on Jan. 19, 1935 at Grandma and Grandpa McIntosh's home. Mary-Lu was the oldest of three children born to Arthur and Gracie (Friesen) McIntosh. Mary Lu lived at "Rock Farm" Wyoming, which was her dad's homestead near Pinedale, Wyo.
Mary-Lu went to school in a one-room school at Rock Farm. Her teacher was her cousin, Isabelle Bergen. When she was in the sixth grade, the family moved to Boulder, Wyo., and took over the homestead in 1946. Mary Lu attended school at Boulder thru the ninth grade. Then, she and her brother, Carrol, moved to Culver, Ore., to continue their education. They stayed with relatives and attended Culver High School during the winter months. In the summer, they went back to Wyoming to help with the chores around the farm and spend time with their family. In 1952, Mary Lu graduated as the salutatorian from Culver High School.
After graduation, she moved to Bend, Ore., and went to work as a telephone operator for Bend Telephone Company. It was during this time that she met Clem Matylinski, a handsome man, who had two very loveable children (Clem, Jr. and Clint). Clem and Mary Lu got married in Bend, on April 18, 1957. They had two daughters, Terri and Susie. They lived in Redmond, Ore., and moved to Goldendale in 1960.
Mary Lu worked at Ron's Business Service and later went to work for Les Schwab Tire Center as the bookkeeper for 25 years. Clem and Mary Lu retired in 1986 and enjoyed life together traveling in their motor home.
Mary Lu loved playing with her grandkids, camping, hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and going to rodeos. She also loved playing cards with "the girls". She had a beautiful warm smile for everyone she greeted and she will be forever in the hearts of her family and friends. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and she loved hymn music.
Her brother, Carrol McIntosh, children, Clem, Jr. and Clint Matylinski, Teresa Stone, Susie Mesecher, her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, survive her.
Mary Lu reunited with her husband, Clem, her parents and her brother Mike.
A Memorial Mass will be held at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, in Goldendale, on May 21, at 10:30 a.m., with a committal at Mt. View Cemetery and a reception to follow at the Legion Hall.
