Charles Alton Barrow
Charles Alton Barrow, "Paw" to his family, went gently to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, Sept. 20, 2006, surrounded by loved ones.
A native and lifelong resident of Baker, Fla., Paw is survived by his beloved wife, sweetheart and soul mate, Maudree ("Maw"), to whom he was married for 63 years.
Charles Barrow was born on July 21, 1922, to Malcolm and Alice Barrow.
He was a proud veteran of World War II, a farmer, carpenter, hunter and master bass fisherman (11 pounds 13 ounces). But mostly he was Maw's dear heart, a good ol' buddy to his many friends, a world-class grandpa, and one who lived and loved life's every moment.
Mr. Barrow was a member of Pyron Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Maudree, Paw is survived by his three children: Bobby Barrow (Sue), Sonja Wadsworth ("KR"), and Beth Barrow (Joey Lewis). There are five grandchildren: Scott Barrow (Donna), Mark Wadsworth (Charlotte), Gena Bolton (Clay), Shannon Barrow (Floyd Spence, fiancÚ), and Kenya Risen (Shawn). Also 15 great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Amber, Chase, Landon, Dylan, Hana, Aidan, Melissa, Audrey, Rachael, Jacob, Heather, Jessica, David and Savannah.
Funeral services will be directed by Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. A memorial service will take place on Friday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Clyde F. Risen will officiate.
Burial will follow at Pyron Chapel Baptist Church in Baker.
The family expresses heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lee Thigpen, Paw's physician and friend. Warm affection is directed to Paw's McDonald's buddies, each of whom was so special.
Above all, praise the Lord for his everlasting mercy and grace!
It is suggested that, in lieu of flowers, those who like
should direct gifts in Paw's name to Covenant Hospice whose kind ministries are deeply appreciated.
Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
