Blake M. Cloward
A great love for his Savior & family
Blake Monson Cloward, 58, passed away November 19, 2002, at his home in Centerville, Utah due to complications from a valiant two-year battle with cancer, surrounded by his family and friends.
Born in Moroni, Utah, on January 21, 1944 to Ellis Conard and Erma Monson Cloward, he was the second of four children. He married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Curtis, in the Manti Temple. Blake and Kathy just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this past summer; 40 years of happiness as eternal sweethearts.
Blake graduated from North Sanpete High School and loved spending time with his classmates at reunions. He also attended Snow College, attending several business classes. Blake was an entrepreneur at heart, and ran a family-owned business for over 25 years. He supported his family well, and taught his children and grandchildren the importance and value of hard work. He had a great love for sports and enjoyed the outdoors, spending many hunting, fishing, and family reunion trips with his family.
Blake served as Bishop in the Centerville Ninth Ward, and as a counselor in the Centerville Canyon View Stake. He loved serving others, and enjoyed the opportunities given him to help others. He was very grateful to all those that showed this same love and service to him as he battled with cancer the last two years of his life, including neighbors, ward and stake members, friends, and those in the medical profession. Special thanks goes out to Dr. Regina Klein, Nancy Weber, Mary-Lynn, Ramona, Maria, Robyn, Stacey, and all of the staff at the U of U Radiation Department and Pain Clinic who made the last two years of Blake's life much easier to bear.
To those that knew him, Blake was one of the most positive, honest, caring, and unselfish individuals. He had a great "dry" sense of humor, and lovingly teased his children and grandchildren.
He had a great love for his Savior, and will always be remembered for his strong testimony of the gospel.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Blake (Anne), Bret (Cindy), Brian (Jenna), and Kim (Matt), brothers, Kell (Renate) and Craig (Eris); grandchildren, Brittany, Bridger, Cheyenne, Forrest, Austin, Riley, Luke, Jaxson, Dawson, and the two to soon be born. Preceded in death by parents and infant brother.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 25th at 11a.m. at the Centerville Ninth Ward, Rick's Creek LDS Chapel. Viewing will be Sunday, November 24th from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary at 295 N. Main, Bountiful, and on November 25th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Rick's Creek Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. at the Moroni Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations to: The Huntsman Cancer Institute or CNS Hospice.
