Mrs. Sallie Evans, 78 years, 7 months and 20 days, died at her home at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, following a long illness.
Funeral services were conducted at 5:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon in Dew Methodist church, Rev. J. ..and interment was in Dew Cemetery at 5:30, with Ham Bros. in charge.
She is survived by two sons, W.N. Evans and W.D. Black of Lanely; five daughter, Mrs. J.O. Nicholas, Teague; Mrs. Elmer Daniel, Lanely; Mrs. F.B. Compton, Dew; Mrs. Gary White, Teague; Mrs. C.M. Elmore, Lubbock; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Sid Glanton, Teague, and Mrs. Frank Davis, Crockett; 28 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 7 step-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Evans was a pioneer of this section having come to Tex-River, and settled on a farm near Keechi creek, later moving to Lanely. Fifteen years ago she moved to Teague and had made her home here since.
