Dockery Craven and Sarah Caroline Kinlaw Allen were married on 12 March 1868 in Robeson Co., NC. (Robeson Co., NC Marriage Bonds). They resided in the Tabernacle Section of Howellsville Township of Robeson Co., NC. They are the parents of five children:
(1.) Florence Allen 29 Mar. 1870 - 29 Sept 1896. She married Wesley Kinlaw (2.) Lloyd Allen 12 April 1873 - died in infancy
(3.) Sarah Ann Katherine Allen 18 Mar. 1875- 17 April 1957 married Archibald R. Kinlaw
(4.) Lenora "Nora" Allen 24 Dec. 1877 - 12 Feb 1905 married Claude Smith
(5.) Phairabe Caroline Allen 19 June 1882 - 5 April 1960 married Thomas Baker Roberts - buried in Zion's Tabernacle Baptist Church. Dockery served as a Deacon in Zion's Tabernacle for many years.



Dockery Craven Allen served in the CSA . He enlisted on 22 March 1862- Artillery, Co. H. 36th Regiment, N. C. Troops (2nd Regt. N. C.
artillery). He was captured at Ft. Fisher, NC, and imprisoned at Point Lookout, Maryland . N.C. Troops 1861-1865: A Roster compiled by L. H. Manarin Vol. I Artillery page 291. Dockery enlisted with his two brothers Simon and Thomas. Unfortunately, Thomas died at Ft. Fisher.
On 28 July 1910, Dockery Allen applied for a pension under an Act entitled "An act for the relief of certain Confederate Soldiers, Sailors and Widows" ratified Mar 1907. He stated that he was nearly blind. Physician stated he was could only do 1/4 of a man's work. His wife was described as being feeble also.

Allen's death certificates and marriage bond are on file in the Robeson Co., NC Court Records. There are 3 birth dates for Dockery Craven. His Bible states 1839. The tombstone states 1838 and his death certificate states 1837. Dockery Craven Allen served as a deacon in the Zion's Tabernacle Baptist Church where he is buried along with his wife and other family members.
