The son of Robert Gordon Acheson and Emma Elizabeth Moore. George married Lillian Mary Lavitta Hemphill on 21 Sep 1938 at Proton Station, Proton Twp., Grey County, Ontario. They had five children together named Donald Russell, William Glenn, Dorothy Marilyn, George Wayne and Marjorie Joyce.

Obituary: Russell Acheson
George Russell Moore Acheson passed away in Dundalk on Tuesday, November 1, 1988. He was 75.
Born on October 4, 1913 in Proton Station, Ontario, Russell was the son of Robert Acheson and Emma (Moore) Acheson where he spent most of his life farming in Proton and Artemesia Twp.
Russell married Lillian Mary Levitta Hemphill on September 21, 1938 in Toronto. She had already predeceased him. They have three sons Don of Stroud, Glenn of Dundalk and George of Etobicoke and also two daughters Marilyn (Mrs. Eray Guy) of Rochlyn and Marjorie (Mrs. David McIntyre of Priceville. He is also survived by one brother, Gordon of Shelburne and sis sisters. Edna (Mrs. Elmo Stevens) Durham, Marjorie (Mrs. Gordon Prosser) Burlington, Emily (Mrs. Lorne Nichols) St. Thomas, Maude (Mrs. Art Blair) Burlington and Roberta (Mrs. Alex MacLean) Etobicoke and Ada (Mrs. Oscar Patterson).
Russell was a member of the Dundalk United Church and Vice-President of the Dundalk Lawn Bowling Club.
Funeral services were held in the Dundalk United Church on Friday November 4, 1988. Rev. Norman Morton officiated. Interment was Bethel Cemetery. The pallbearers were nephews R.J. Patterson, Bob Acheson, Al MacLean, Bob Blair, Jack Acheson & Bill Robertson. The flower-bearers were grandchildren Jack Wilson, Yvonne Acheson, Dean Acheson, Jeffery Acheson and Meghan McIntyre.
"The Old Rugged Cross" was sung by Jean French and June Wilson. Organist was Ruth Moore.
