Birth: Nov. 9, 1906
Orleans County
New York, USA
Death: Mar. 2, 1931
New York, USA

Charles was born in Medina, Orleans Co., N.Y., the third son of Edward and Mary Pearl Wood Buckner on November 09, 1906. He married Mary B. Flynn; the daughter of Patrick J. and Mary R. Flynn of Buffalo, Erie, Co., N.Y., and the young couple moved in with the bride's cousins, Mr. & Mrs. Harold E. & Elizabeth Barney at 344 DeWitt St., Buffalo, N.Y. While Charles worked in construction, Mary soon found herself expecting their first child.
Unfortunately, fate dealt a cruel blow when an on the job accident took Charles life in the spring of 1931. Family lore explains that a "sewer tile" rolled down upon him in a hole, killing him instantly. No obituary or newspaper report has been located to date, other than a note in "The Medina Daily Journal" on March 03, 1931 stating that his sister had been called to Buffalo over the previous weekend due to his death.
Charles' wife Mary delivered their son, Charles Edward Buckner, Jr. on May 15, 1931, in Buffalo, Erie Co., N.Y.

Update 06/04/2013: Death Certificate obtained from the City of Buffalo - Charles was fatally injured on February 27, 1931 while working on a water main in downtown Buffalo and a heavy tile rolled down on him crushing his skull and one leg. He was taken to Mercy Hospital where he lingered for more than 2 days, finally succumbing to his injuries at 12:50 A.M. on March 2, 1931. Twenty-four year old Charles had just been hired by the City of Buffalo Highway Department 2 days prior to the accident.
