Texana, Texas is a ghost town which was located in Jackson County near Edna. The community was one of the earliest Anglo-American settlements in the state. The town flourished as late as 1880, but when the railroad bypassed the town, it rapidly declined. The site now lies under the Lake Texana reservoir. It is assumed that William Probst who was listed on Jackson County, Texas State and County Tax Rolls, Lot 73, Texanna, Texas, probably died during this decade and probably buried in Texanna which is now Lake Texanna reservoir. An effort to locate the listing of those buried in the Texanna Cemetery has not been successful.
1870 Goliad, Texas listed Sarah Probst (spelled Probes) age 64 living in household of son-in-law John Whittentton age 38, with his daughter Alice age 14. It is assumed Sarah Ann Bailey Probst died during this decade.
