Myrl M. Dunphy, 94, died, Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004 at the home of her son Larry, in Brentwood, MO.
She was born Nora Myrl Morrison on Sept. 27, 1909, in Slater, MO. to Walter E. Morrison and Josie E. Johnson. She was married to Thomas J. Dunphy on March 15, 1930 in Olathe, Kan.
She received her bachelor's degree from William Jewel College, Liberty, Mo. and a master's degree from Colorado State university, Fort Collins, Colo.
She was a teacher with the Carthage School District for 31 years before retiring in 1975. She taught in the elementary schools before moving to the high school to teach English and Latin. She has been an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Carthage, the American Association of university Women, the McCune-Brooks Hospital Board, the Carthage Library Board, Carthage Community Teacher's Association, and the Missouri State Teachers Association.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas J. Dunphy, Jr., Miramar, Fla., and Larry R. Dunphy, Brentwood, Mo.; six grandchildrn and ten great-grand children.
Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 16, at Ulmer Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 17 at Ulmer Funeral Home with burial to follow in Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
