Freda F. Alumbaugh, 81, Carthage, died Sunday, May 1, 2011, after a sudden illness in St. John's, Joplin. She was born Dec. 25, 1929, in Carthage to Clarence A. and Sidney A. (Greninger) Greenwood. She attended Carthage Public Schools and was a 1947 graduate of Carthage High School.
She married John W. Alumbaugh Sept. 25, 1947, in Carthage. He survives in the Missouri Veterans' Home/Mt. Vernon.
She was the secretary/treasurer for Alumbaugh Construction, Carthage. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Carthage.
Additional survivors include two sons, Wesley D. Alumbaugh and Bynum R. Alumbaugh, both of Carthage; one daughter, Connie Hoover, Carthage; one brother, Ernest W. Greenwood, Carthage; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 5, at the Church of the Nazarene, Carthage. Pastor Dustin Ledford will officiate. Burial will be in the Emmanuel Cemetery, southeast of Carthage, under the direction of Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 Wednesday, May 4, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage.
Memorial donations may be made to Emmanuel Cemetery, in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W. Chestnut, Carthage, MO 64836.
