Jacob "Jack" Schalcher Kellersberger passed away August 24, 2005 in South Jordan, Utah. He was born July 18, 1914 in Afton to Anna Schalcher Kellersberger and Anton Joseph Kellersberger. He was the youngest of five children.
Jack grew up in Star Valley. He attended school there and was active in athletics. He served as student body president his senior year. He graduated from SVHS in 1932.
Jack attended Brigham Young Academy in Provo in 1935. He enrolled in a radio and television school in 1937 at Kansas City Missouri. Jack graduated from that school in 1938.
Upon graduation, Jack returned to Star Valley to work and save money for a mission. he served in the East Central Stares Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
After his mission, Jack returned to Afton. On November 26, 1941 he married his high school sweetheart, Nora Aleen Turner, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Salt Lake for awhile while Jack worked at Hill Field as a radio mechanic. He was sent to Logan to receive additional radio training.
In 1943 Jack transfered from Hill Air Force Base to a base in Sioux Falls, S.D. to repair radios in airplanes. he and Nora lived there until the war ended in 1945.
Jack and Nora moved back to Afton and started Star Valley Radio and Television. He made his livelihood repairing radios and televisions.
Jack was an active member in his church and served in many different callings. He and his wife served a mission in New York from 1985-1987.
Jack enjoyed the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting and skiing. Jack was also a devoted husband and father.
Jack is survived by his five children; Kent (Beverly) of South Jordan; Karen (Steven) Timothy of Delta, Colorado; Craig (Maryan) of South Jordan; Curtis (Linda) of American Fork, Utah; and LeAnn (Charles) Arkinson of Schertz Texas; 25 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three sisters and a brother.
Funeral services for Jack Kellersberger will be held on Jriday Sept 2, 2005 at noon in the Afton LDS Tabernacle.
A viewing will be held at 11 a.m. prior to the funeral services at the church.
