Mr. Beckstead's Demise

Death Robs the Community of a Respected and Useful Citizen

As stated in last night's "News," the funeral services over the remains of Deputy Sheriff Henry W. Beckstead, who died Sunday at the Holy Cross Hospital following an operation for appendicitis and the removal of gall stones, will be held from the South Jordan ward meetinghouse on Thursday, at 12 o'clock noon. The body will be taken to his home in East Jordan tomorrow and may be viewed there from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday. At the latter hour the remains will be taken to the South Jordan meetinghouse, where the services will be held, beginning at 12 o'clock. Interment will be in the South Jordan cemetery, where the school children and other friends will be permitted to view the body for the last time.

Mr. Beckstead was for years a school trustee in the South Jordan district, and in his honor the school will be closed to take part in the procession. He was also a constable for some time, and in every walk of life was highly respected for his integrity and kindly disposition. He had been ailing for years from an affection of the gall, but his death was nevertheless sudden and unexpected. The deceased leaves a wife, eight children, a mother, two brothers and two sisters. His father died when he was a mere child. His mother is now a resident of Oregon, and will not be able to attend the funeral. By his fellow associates in the sheriff's office, Mr. Beckstead was much though of and his demise is regarded as a distinct loss to that branch of the county government.
