Withers' High Victorian Gothic Jefferson Market Courthouse, located in Greenwich Village, is the best known of Withers' works. Other famous works: his only known Cast Iron building -a commercial store at 448 Broome Street in SoHo, and the high altar in Trinity Church, NYC.
His mentor, Andrew Jackson Downing (1815-1852) is buried: Cedar Hill Cemetery in Orange Cty, Newburgh NY.
Frederick Clarke Withers (1828– 1901) was born in England, and kept his British citizenship, although he fought in the Civil War. He died at home 163 Glenwood Ave, Yonkers, NY.
Services were at St. Paul's Church, Yonkers per one-line NY Times Obit.
He is Buried in Trinity Cemetery on West 155th St.
