George Russell Hainey, son of the late Jackson Williams and Nancy Jane Russell Hainey, died at the home of his son in Meriden, Kansas, Tuesday, March 10, at the age of 86 years. George was the husband of Frances Spurrier Hainey and the father of Mrs. Frank (Alma) Slingsby, Mrs. Ralph (Altha) Spurrier, and Elver O. Hainey. He was preceeded in death by his wife Frances and a daughter, Alza Hainey.
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. R.C.(Martha Frances) Harner of Howard and Mrs. R.J.(Emily) Morton of Clay Center and a brother, Albert Hainey of Olsburg, Kansas.
George was a farmer by occupation like so many others in the Hainey family and was very active with farm life until 1907 when he then moved into Clay Center.
Funeral services were conducted from the Schwensen Chapel in Clay Center Thursday afternoon, March 12th, with Rev. Homer Wroten of Keats in charge. Interment was in Fancy Creek Cemetery north of Green.
