Birth: Aug. 31, 1917
Indiana, USA
Death: Feb. 22, 1944, Germany

Mr. and Mrs. Homer Arnold of Rockville have received from the War Department a presumptive declaration of death of their son, Lt. Homer Arnold, Jr., a navigator on a heavy bomber. He was previously reported missing since Feb. 22, 1944, in a bombing mission over Germany.

Lt. Arnold, a graduate of Rockville high school, entered the army in January, 1941, and was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky. In October of the next year, he was transferred to the air orps and sent to Texas for training, receiving his wings at San Marcos.

Later, he was sent to Clovis, New Mexico and Mitchell Field, New York for advanced training and then went overseas. He landed in Africa and was then sent to Italy, where he was based at the time of his last mission.

Besides the parents, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Raymond Inman of Terre Haute.

There is also a memorial for him in Lorraine, France. Memorial # 56652310
