She was preceded in death by her husband Jim of 53 years in 1992.
She is survived by daughters Joyce & Carol, sons Jim Jr. and Dan, sons-in-law Dan Murphy and Chuck Belveal, and daughters-in-law Roxane Smith & Dee Divine. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Ruth was raised in Oregon and attended Marylhurst College, where she competed in the Olympic swimming trials. She continued with her swimming through Summer 2006. She was a coach and participant in many sports throughout her life.
Ruth was employed in management at Pacific Bell of California for 20 years. After retirement, she became very active in church, family, charities, and politics. She followed San Francisco Bay Area sports teams daily.
Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren admired her unconditional love and affection.
Funeral mass was held at the Church of the Transfiguration, San Jose. Interment at the Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
