Valentine Baus

Village Banker Is Stricken by Heart Ailment. Val Baus, Former Member of County Board, Dies At. St. Cloud. Val Baus, 77, St. Cloud banker, former member of the county board and retired merchant, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at 10:30 p.m. Friday at his home in St. Cloud.

Born Sept. 18, 1866, in Albany, N.Y., son of Martin and Lucy Baus, he moved with his parents to St. Cloud in infancy and had lived there since. He was married June 22, 1893, to Miss Rose Schrage, at Holy Cross church at Mt. Calvary. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1943.

Mr. Baus operated a general store at St. Cloud until 1923, when he retired. He had been a director of the village bank since its organization many years ago. A member of St. Claudius' church in St. Cloud, he belonged to the Men's society and Holy Name society of the parish, the Third Order of St. Francis and the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin.

Surviving are his widow; six children, Mrs. William Kleist of Milwaukee, Mrs. Frank Bartell and Ben M. Baus of St. Cloud, Dr. Ervin T. Baus of Milwaukee, Alfred T. Baus of Marytown, and Dr. Val Baus of Kiel; a sister, Mrs. Michael Faber, this city; a brother, George Baus of St. Cloud; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Two children preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Lisowe funeral home and at 10 a.m. at St. Claudius' church, St. Cloud. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Valentine Baus

Val Baus, aged 77, resident of St. Cloud, and former member of the Fond du Lac county board and retired merchant, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack at 10:30 o'clock Friday evening at his home.

Mr. Baus was born Sept. 18, 1866, in Albany, New York, son of Martin and Lucy Baus, he moved with his parents to St. Cloud in infancy and had lived there since. Schrage and John Sippel of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Nic. Faber, Mr. and Mrs. Ben. Faber, Mr. and Mrs. Al. Bahr, Mrs. Adela Faber, Martina Faber, Herman Schrage, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Schrage, County Clerk Arthur Kremer, County Service Officer L.E. McEuroe and many others from Fond du Lac, Milwaukee, Mt. Calvary, Calvary, Marytown, Glenbeulah, St. Kilian, Dotyville, Armstrong, Kewaskum, West Bend and St. Joe.

Valentine Baus

Funeral services for Val Baus, retired grocer, who died Friday at his home at St. Cloud, were held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Lisowe Funearl home and at 10 a.m. from St. Claudius church at St. Cloud. Honorary pallbearers were Thomas Ott, Joseph Ditter, Michael Abler, Henry Loehr, Arthur Schmitz and Louis Kohlmann. Active pallbearers were John, Roman, Martin and Carl Baus, Michael Faber and Erwin Schrage.

Those attending the services included Joseph Schrage, Mrs. A.F. Schrage, John Sippel of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Nick Faber, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Faber, Mr. and Mrs. Al Bahr, Mrs. Adela Faber, Martina Faber, Herman Schrage, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Schrage, County Clerk Arthur Kremer, County Service Officier L.E. McEnroe, this city, and many others from Fond du Lac, Milwaukee, West Bend, Kewaskum, St. Kilian, Mt. Calvary, St. Joe, Marytown, Glenbeulah, Armstrong and surrounding places
