A service was held in the Murray Funeral Home Chapel at Belcourt, North Dakota on Tuesday, January 28, 1964. Final rites were held at St. Ann's Cemetery in Belcourt, on Wednesday, January 29, 1964. Murray Funeral Home of Rolla had charge of arrangements.
Odious Lee "Lee" Delong was born on September 18, 1885 on the family farm in Cass county, near the village of Lone Tree, Missouri, the son of George Washington and Nancy Angeline (Vandel) DeLong. In 1897, the family left Missouri and moved to Cando, ND, moving their cattle, horses, machinery and household goods by train.
In about 1907 the family moved to St. John School township in Rolette County, near Jarvis, ND. It was in this area that Lee met his future wife, Harriet Allery. They were married on February 24, 1909 in Belcourt, ND. They resided and farmed near Jarvis for some time and then farmed nearer to Belcourt for many years.
Survivers include his wife, Harriet of Belcourt; seven daughters, Mrs. Leo LaFromboise (Nancy) and Mrs. Ben Vote (Rose), both of Rolla, ND, Mrs. Mike Nelson (Gladys) of St. John, ND, Mrs. Bernard Lenoir (Mae) of Marty, South Dakota, Mrs. Joe Lindsey (Stella) of Billings, Montana, Mrs. Francis Olson, (Leona) of Great Falls, Montana, and Mrs. Louis "Sam" Laducer (Elizabeth) of Chicago, Illinois; three sons, George DeLong of Rolla, ND, Ernest Delong of Belcourt, ND and John DeLong of Fort Thompson, South Dakota, 66 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dan DeLong of Wolf Point, Montana and Clay Delong of Hope, British Columbia, Canada.
He was preceded in death by one son in infancy; his parents; three brothers, Albert, Archie "Dick", and Lester DeLong; and three sisters, Lillian at age 5 years and twins, Fay at 31 days and May at 35 days.
