3, 2012 Arrangements with Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa, MS.

James Thurman Bennett 87, of Pascagoula, MS died June 3, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 4, 1925 in Winona, MS, and was a master carpenter by trade. He was a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Pascagoula, MS. Mr. Bennett moved from Winona, MS to Pascagoula, MS in 1969. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, gardening, and loved seeing what he could make with wood. He was a self-employed contractor for many years, and after retirement continued to make wooden crafts, and dog houses for enjoyment. He enjoyed sharing his beliefs about God's Kingdom and the blessings it would bring to mankind. He looked forward to the time when there would be no one sick, and the promise from Jehovah God found at Revelation 21:3, 4 will be fulfilled.
Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his mother Minnie Lee Bennett (Costilow), his father Yancy Vertine Bennett and seven siblings: Beulah Bennett of Winona, MS, Cecil and (Liz) Bennett of Winona, MS, Jessie Bennett, Bill Bennett, Katie Bennett, Alton Bennett, and Alma Bennett all of Winona, MS.
Mr. Bennett is survived by his dear wife of 65 years Mrs. Dorothy Mae Bennett (Vess) of Pascagoula, and their eight children: Brenda and the late (Don Rogers) of Pascagoula, MS, Lamar and (Debbie) Bennett of Pascagoula, MS, Don and (Kathy) Bennett of Hurley, MS, Joy and (Alton) Lee of Moss Point, MS, Larry and (Sue) Bennett of Morgan City, LA, Jerry and (Sherrie) Bennett of Vandeave, MS, Gail and (Murray) Hamilton of Pascagoula, MS, and Stacey and (Lisa) Bennett of Hurley, MS. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, along with host of other nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1507 11 th Street, Pascagoula, MS on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 2:00pm with Elder Patrick Hammond officiating.
The family would like to say thank you for all of your love and support during his illness. Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa, MS is in charge of arrangements.
