Jonathan Hamilton Hartely, son of Benjamin and Elizabeth Hartley, served in Company E Regiment 37 of the Confederate Army from 1861 until 1864. He was taken prisoner on November 28, 1964. His first wife was Celia Ann Stout; they were married on September 17, 1867 in Tennessee. She died in April 1882 in Butler County, Kansas where they had homesteaded in early 1870. He married Nancy Jane Bolten Cook on December 3, 1882 in Butler County, Kansas. They moved to Lawrence County, Missouri. ...
